Programme

PA1: Programme management, co-ordination and steering

A Management Group, chaired by the Principal Investigator (Mike McDonald) from the University of Southampton is responsible for the overall conduct and success of FUTURES. The University of the West of England, Bristol and the University of Leeds are also represented on the Group along with a stakeholder partners' representative. The Group is responsible for financial decisions, monitoring of progress and coordination between other programmes.

Project management

Responsibility for the conduct of research is devolved to the level of the individual research activities (PA2a-c and 5a-d) and the associated research teams with team leaders reporting to the Management Group.

A FUTURES Steering Committee is comprised of seven FUTURES representatives and seven independent experts with an independent chair. The Committee is responsible for advising on the strategic direction of FUTURES and acts as a sounding board, commenting on programme deliverables (and identifying and agreeing their timing content and format) and advising on key decisions concerning research methodology, development of demonstrator applications and identification of new research opportunities.
