PA4: Consultation and dissemination

A number of approaches are in place for research dissemination:

FUTURES website - This will provide a widely accessible means to provide up-to-date information to the outside world and to include reciprocated links with stakeholder partners, other SUE consortia and other interested external parties. All (or most) of the programme activity deliverables will be made publicly available on the FUTURES website.

Academic articles and publications - FUTURES deliverables will form the basis for journal articles. Agreement has been secured in principle for the production a FUTURES book as part of Ashgate's Transport and Society series.

Conference presentations - we will look to identify a significant number of opportunities for this to occur for FUTURES. Preparations have begun for the FUTURES consortium to disseminate its work at the 2006 International Conference on Travel Behaviour Research in Kyoto, Japan and at a national level we have the support of the Transport Planning Society to disseminate and discuss FUTURES at their London and nationwide events. ITS UK is a member of the FUTURES consortium and will support FUTURES dissemination through its annual conference, newsletter and network of technology-related stakeholders. We also intend to convene a dedicated session on FUTURES at the 2007 ITS World Congress in London.

However, communication with those outside of FUTURES must not be a one-way process and consultation must go hand-in-hand with dissemination. To ensure this is addressed, both a mid-term and (pre-)end-of-term international FUTURES 2-day workshop will be held. These workshops will be advertised internationally and will be free to attend. These workshops will be attended, amongst others, by four international 'friends' of FUTURES from Europe, the US, Australia and Japan. The 'friends' will also be regularly consulted during the programme.
